Nearly a Century of Service, Built on Trust and Performance

Founded in Kansas City in 1927, American Equipment Company has proudly served the Midwest for nearly 100 years. We began as specialists in insulated truck bodies and expanded in the 1940s to offer a full line of truck equipment — including trailer refrigeration units.

In the mid-1970s, during a time of economic change, the company shifted its focus to refuse and recycling equipment and relocated to North Kansas City. Operations were streamlined with a smaller team and limited service capabilities — a move that allowed us to stay focused and resilient. In 1996, J & D Equipment, Inc. acquired the assets of American Equipment Co., expanding product lines and capabilities. By 1998, we had moved into a larger, more functional facility in Kansas City, Kansas.
